The simple answer is that no one knows. He could have been Japanese, as claimed, American, Australian, or even a group of individuals. Does it really matter though? The gift Satoshi bequeathed to society far outweighs the need to attribute it to a single source.
Nonetheless, since the founding authors of this project have lived in Japan for 100+ years (collectively, not individually!) and know the Japanese culture and education system pretty well, we decided to build a plausible life history that illustrates how Satoshi would have grown up as a typical but gifted Japanese boy and eventually developed into the focused, multilingual inventor of Bitcoin.
Being somewhat geeky ourselves, we didn’t want this project to just be a pure flight of imagination. Rather, we decided to strike deeper and stack Satoshi’s writings and public demeanor against some well-known psychological, cultural and religious models to build a framework that would make our protagonist more believable, understandable, and predictable.
For that reason, we have consulted a Buddhist monk, psychologists, encryption experts, and other specialists to help us get the details right.
Using both fantasy and social anthropology as frames of reference, we now invite you to join our community and help us to create an ongoing series of fictional stories about Satoshi’s personal development.
This project is a purely fictional account of the life and times of young Satoshi Nakamoto.
Nothing in our collection of Satoshi tales actually happened and any resemblance of our fictional characters and events with actual people and events is purely coincidental. When our fictional characters intersect with real people, events, and products that would have been used by Satoshi and his peers, we have followed but not limited ourselves to best practice in copyright law.
That said, as a community of contributors, we may inadvertently feature content that may infringe on the rights of others, and we commit to review any and all valid claims. All you need to do is contact us to request a review.
Hopefully, from our fiction the rest of the world can learn some interesting facts and influences that make the Japanese collective psyche function the way it does.
